From a recent news report we learn that Australia is now an underachiever in education.
The reason is simple: the funding from our government is scarce.
Students from overseas have been the main revenue of our local universities for many years.  Now with Australia dollar is on par with US dollar, many have made their way to other continents.
In other words, Australian universities will suffer and quality will not be guaranteed if no extra funding is in place.
I have also read another article about the funding spent on education in Australia is ranked one of the lowest (4.7%)of GDP in 2007, compared to the 5% OECD average. Although this is an old report, but sadly there has been no significant improvement.
So what is our government thinking?
